Nine Mile Smile
After taking a long, long break from music, I finally decided to pull it together, jump back in and join a band. The story, as it turns out, is not unlike your typical rock band musing.
I got a call one day from Fran (founding member and rhythm guitar player) who heard I was a keyboard player through a 'friend' of the drummer, Kurtis. Recently divorced, I faced a lot of new challenges and was simply trying to put the pieces of my life back together again and felt as though it may be too much of a commitment. Fran, as it turned out, became one of those reassuring voices (I had not met him but spoke with him on the phone several times) who often offered some positive advice and some much needed company. Mostly, I think, he just wanted me to try out for the band and wouldn't take 'no' as an answer!
After turning him down several times he made one last attempt. He asked me how many times I was going to rearrange the linen closet in my hallway (when he called I was actually rearranging the linen closet in my hallway) and the rest, as they say, is history.
I am blessed to work with some of the best talent in West Michigan. Visit our band website for more details about our great band!
I've recorded a lot of music over the years. I write for fun and gratification for going from point A to point B and completing the journey of writing, recording and producing a song. It's always given me a sense of peace and helps me reflect. The latest song I've written is linked below. Please feel free to listen/download. Definitely give me feedback if you like it!
